VALLEY OF FIRE

  • Valley of Fire State Park:

    Group Use Campsites #2 & #3

    Moapa Valley, Nevada 89040

For reference, Valley of Fire is an easy 55 mile drive from the Las Vegas Strip, with petrified wood and red sandstone vistas you absolutely cannot beat.

  • Google Maps will be your friend (and potentially also your enemy)!

All roads (mostly) lead to Valley of Fire via I-15 to Valley of Fire Highway.
And all roads require paid entry into the State Park: $10/NV vehicle or $15/non-NV vehicle for day access only; $20/NV vehicle or $25/non-NV vehicle for overnight camping access per night.

From the Las Vegas strip & surrounding area: (about 1 hour)

    From Northern California: (8+ hours!)

  • Dancin’ Shoes!

We recommend dressing for the environment which, in this case, is very dusty red sand campsite.

Definitely wear shoes comfortable for walking outdoors.

Temperatures can range pretty significantly, so bringing layers is never a bad move. In the November sunshine it can be up to 85° but once the sun goes down, the temperature can to drop into the low 40’s, which can be quite chilly, especially with a dry breeze.

We’re certainly hoping to avoid any rain, but it does happen. We’ve got some shelter space to keep us all VERY cozy and mostly dry in the event of questionable weather, but please do check the radar for the area and plan your wardrobe accordingly. We’ve had unseasonable temperatures so far this year, so there’s really no predicting what we may encounter in November!

If you need a more succinct answer to the “What to wear?” question, the internet suggests that “Festive,” “Casual,” and “Come As You Are” would all be applicable terms for our event.

  • If camping is not your vibe, fret not! There are plenty of places to stay surrounding Valley of Fire that will provide you with basic creature comforts like a mattress and flushable toilet, as long as you have access to a vehicle and you’re willing to drive. (Rideshare to and from a state park is not a great option.)

The Las Vegas Strip has boundless options, all of which are roughly an hour’s drive from our campsites.

Moapa & Overton are also nearby towns that have some less flashy lodging options, and they are about 45 minutes away by car.

When booking your stay, don’t forget to take advantage of any discounts available to you: AARP, AAA, Active & Retired Military, etc. Several of these housing options are also available for booking through 3rd party rate discount sites like Expedia, Kayak, Trip Advisor, Travelocity, Booking.com, etc.

  • Totally an option, especially here! We’ve rented (2) group-use campsites that can each accommodate up to 45 people and 12 vehicles overnight, so there’s plenty of space to spread out on property. We have access to our camp sites starting at 3PM on Friday, November 17th and will need to restore the campsites to a state better than how we found them by no later than 11AM on Monday, September 20th. Guests are welcome to join us for as many or as few of those nights as they like!

Please make sure to give us a heads up in your RSVP if you are expecting to camp on site so that we can take camping space adequately into consideration when planning our decor & table layouts and so that we don’t find ourselves in violation of any of the park guidelines!

There is a $20-$25 fee per night for each vehicle that will be camping, which can be paid upon entry to the park.

Make sure to bring your own camping necessities if you’re planning to join us. Charlie takes up pretty much all of the space in our tent, so we won’t have any room to squeeze other campers in with us!

  • Friday night we’re happy to host a VERY low key campfire cookout for any guests who are camping with us, or for any guests who want to join us in the park for the afternoon.

Feel free to bring something to throw on the grill or fire pit if you want, but certainly no obligation!

We’ll be doing all of our venue decorating Friday evening and we’re content to have all hands on deck for extra help — just make sure you’re dressed for an outdoor evening filled with climbing step stools to hang string lights and eating camping fare in a sandy environment.

Please reach out to us directly if you’ll be joining us Friday evening so that we can share more specific details and include you in our headcount.

  • THE WEDDING, OF COURSE!

All times listed in VENUE LOCAL TIME.

(Valley of Fire is Pacific Time…and don’t forget that the clocks “Fall Back” on the first Sunday in November [2 weeks before our wedding]!)

    **Doors Open: 1:30PM

    Ceremony: 3:00PM

Cocktail Hour: 3:45PM (or whenever the ceremony ends)

    Reception: 4:00PM-9:45PM

    Dinner: Between 5:00PM-6:00PM

    Party Time: 6:00-9:30PM

    ++Soft End of Night: 9:45PM

**There are no doors to open - you can just come into the campsite. We’ll still be getting ready, but there will be lawn games & other activities to occupy your time if you choose to show up early! Please avoid showing up much earlier than 1:30PM as we may still be setting out decorations!

++We won’t be kicking anyone out of the campsites at 9:45PM, but we will be shutting down the music & chaos. In addition to being a State Park with strictly enforced noise ordinances, there will be some guests who choose to camp on site. The “party” might continue a-la low key, late night fireside chat, but will not be allowed to continue in the form of a raging disco after 9:45PM.

  • Sunday morning we’re happy to host a VERY low key campfire brunch & recovery session for any overnight campers who are enjoying a more leisurely return home, or for any guests who’d like to re-enter the park on Sunday to meet us back at our campsites.

Feel free to bring something to share if you want, but certainly no obligation! We’ll probably be eating leftover wedding food in addition to providing some campy brunchy fire fare.

We’ll definitely be doing some last minute event strike & venue cleanup, so we’d be thrilled to have any extra hands on deck for added support — just make sure you’re dressed for an outdoor morning and afternoon filled with climbing step stools to drop string lights and crawling around in the sandy aftermath of our dance floor while looking for your college friend’s dignity.

Please reach out to us directly if you’ll be joining us Sunday morning so that we can share more specific details and include you in our headcount.

  • Hiking is definitely at the top of the list if you’re into that sort of thing. The views are truly unbeatable all throughout Valley of Fire. Even if hiking isn’t your jam, there are tons of beautiful vista points or park & snap photo ops throughout the area and along the highway.

Outside of Valley of Fire, the Las Vegas Strip & Fremont Street are definitely stunning sites, especially if you’re visiting from out of town and you’ve never been! If you HAVE been to the Strip & downtown Vegas, but not in the last 5 years or so, it may still be worth taking a poke around because the entire skyline of the city has been changing with new and improved architecture & architainment projects!

  • If you still have questions, head on over to our FAQ page to see if we’ve already addressed your concerns there.

If you’re not having any luck finding answers elsewhere on our site, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! You can always submit a question on our Contact Form or just email or text one of us directly.

We did add a Registry Link at the last minute because so many family members have asked us for one. Every guest has to travel to us in some way or another, which is already plenty to ask. We are in no way expecting gifts in addition to your presence. Please check out the FAQ Blurb about the registry for more information!
