Dancin’ Shoes!
We recommend dressing for the environment which, in this case, is a sandy, grassy beachside picnic shelter.
Definitely wear shoes comfortable for walking outdoors.
Temperatures can range pretty significantly, so bringing layers is never a bad move. In the early October sunshine it can be about 75° but once the sun goes down, the temperature tends to drop into the low 40’s, which is distinctly chilly even without a breeze.
We’re certainly hoping to avoid any rain, but it does happen so please do check the radar for the area and plan your wardrobe accordingly.
If you need a more succinct answer to the “What to wear?” question, the internet suggests that “Festive,” “Casual,” and “Come As You Are” would all be applicable terms for our event.

There are lots of places for boutique-y lakeside stays as well as more mainstream hotel options in Madison surrounding Lake Mendota! Anything that’s between a 10 to 20 minute drive is a reasonable fit for easy access to our venue and easy access to ride-sharing options.
Air BnB or VRBO will get you a smattering of adorable waterside options in the area, but you can also find some cute options like The Madison Marquette Hotel or The Edgewater Hotel just by doing a simple Google Maps search based on proximity to Warner Beach! If you’re interested in a more traditional (and affordable) hotel experience, there are plenty of “old standby” options, including a number of different Wyndham properties like the AmericInn by Wyndham that includes breakfast!
When booking your stay no matter where you decide, don’t forget to take advantage of any discounts available to you: AARP, AAA, Active & Retired Military, etc. Several of these housing options are also available for booking through 3rd party rate discount sites like Expedia, Kayak, Trip Advisor, Travelocity, Booking.com, etc.
It’s important to note that our Madison Wedding Weekend also happens to be Homecoming Weekend for the Wisconsin Badgers (against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights) so both lodging availability and travel times may be impacted!
We also have limited space available for guests who would like to camp overnight on Sabrina’s property, but please do let us know if that’s your plan so that we can be sure to allocate space accordingly!
-
A limited availability option! There’s some of space to spread out on Sabrina’s property, but please make sure to give us a heads up in your RSVP if you are expecting to camp so that we can take camping space adequately into consideration when planning!
We also ask that if you’re planning to camp the night of the wedding, you park at Sabrina’s house and walk the short walk to our beachside Ceremony & Reception site to help limit the number of cars that will be parking at the beach and so that you feel free to party freely without having to needlessly relocate a vehicle in the wee hours!
Make sure to bring your own camping necessities if you’re planning to join us. Charlie takes up pretty much all of the space in our tent, so we won’t have any room to squeeze other campers in with us!

Friday night we’re happy to host a VERY low key backyard picnic for any out of town guests who may already be in the area.
Feel free to bring something potluck style if you want, but certainly no obligation!
We’ll be doing some last minute decor prep so we’re content to have any spare hands on deck for extra help — just make sure you’re dressed for an outdoor evening filled with climbing step stools to hang string lights and forcing decorative signage into the grassy terrain.
Please reach out to us directly if you’ll be joining us Friday evening so that we can share more specific details and include you in our headcount.

THE WEDDING, OF COURSE! (And maybe also the Badgers Homecoming game at a local watering hole, depending on kickoff time?)
All times listed in VENUE LOCAL TIME.
(Madison is Central Time.)
**Doors Open: 1:30PM
Ceremony: 3:00PM
Cocktail Hour: 3:45PM (or whenever the ceremony ends)
Reception: 4:00PM-9:00PM
Dinner: Between 5:00PM-6:00PM
Party Time: 6:00-8:45PM
++Soft End of Night: 9:00PM
**There are no doors to open - you can just come to the beach. The Brides will still be getting ready off site, but there will be lawn games & other activities to occupy your time if you choose to show up early! Please avoid showing up much earlier than 1:30PM as we may still be setting out decorations! (And we may not be allowed access to the venue until 10:00AM!)
++We won’t be kicking anyone off the property at 9:00PM, but we will be shutting down the music & chaos. (Our noise permit ends at 9PM anyway!) The park is closed, regardless of permit, at 10PM, so we will be doing a light strike of any remaining decorations before relocating back to Sabrina’s to settle in.
After we clean up and relocate, the “party” may continue a-la low key, garden-view story telling session, but will not be allowed to continue in the form of a raging disco after 9:45PM. In addition to being respectful of our hosts and their neighbors, there may be a few guests who choose to camp on site!

Sunday morning we’re happy to host a VERY low key backyard brunch & recovery session for any out of town guests who may still be in the area for a more leisurely return home.
Feel free to bring something potluck style if you want, but certainly no obligation! We’ll probably be eating leftover wedding food in addition to providing some light brunch fare.
We’ll definitely be doing some last minute event strike, venue cleanup, & supply reorganization so we’d be thrilled to have any extra hands on deck for added support — just make sure you’re dressed for an outdoor morning and afternoon filled with climbing step stools to drop string lights and crawling around in the grassy aftermath of our late night silent disco dance floor while looking for your college friend’s dignity.
Please reach out to us directly if you’ll be joining us Sunday morning so that we can share more specific details and include you in our headcount.

Honestly, you probably know better than we do. Chances are, if you’re joining us in Madison, you’re more local to Wisconsin than we are!
First and foremost, our Madison Wedding Weekend overlaps with the Wisconsin Badgers Homecoming game! We’re sure there will be plenty of local activities surrounding the team & the game for all of our sports lovers, but we also want to point out that travel times & traffic may be impacted!
Madison is home to several different museums & gardens that are free or reasonably priced and provide some awesome family friendly and adult-only adventures! We’d recommend checking out
Madison Children’s Museum $12 entry for kids & adults, but save $1 per ticket if you book online! Open every day (except Mondays!) from 9AM-4PM with extended hours on Thursdays until 8PM. Rumor has it the afternoons tend to be less busy.
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art “Sertraline Dolls” exhibit closes on October 8th, but would definitely be worth checking out if you have time surrounding wedding events! The exhibit is an interactive, videogame-driven experience from a female Chicago-based media & performance artist named Ava Wanbli. The museum is totally free but is only open Thursdays through Sundays from 12PM to 6PM
Chazen Museum of Art In addition to the permanent collection of works, “Insistent Presence” is an African Art exhibit that will be on display during the month of October. The gallery is free and open daily, located at 750 University Avenue on the UW campus.
Physics Museum (2nd floor of Chamberlin Hall on the UW campus at the corner of University Ave & Charter St). Admission is free, but the museum runs on donations! Open weekdays 8:30AM-4:00PM
Olbrich Botanical Gardens October hours are 10AM-4PM daily. Admission is free for the outdoor gardens, but they run on donations! The Conservatory charges $6 for adults and $3 for kids between 6-12.
Beyond the scope of the beautiful city of Madison, we’re also under a two hour drive from Milwaukee and under a 3 hour drive from Chicago, so the options for exploration are practically limitless!

If you still have questions, head on over to our FAQ page to see if we’ve already addressed your concerns there.
If you’re not having any luck finding answers elsewhere on our site, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! You can always submit a question on our Contact Form or just email or text one of us directly.
We did add a Registry Link at the last minute because so many family members have asked us for one. Every guest has to travel to us in some way or another, which is already plenty to ask. We are in no way expecting gifts in addition to your presence. Please check out the FAQ Blurb about the registry for more information!
